Graham Awarded Highland Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks and Odour Control Facility Upgrades

The City of Toronto recently awarded Graham the CDN$65.3 million project to upgrade the Highland Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks and Odour Control Facility. Graham was short-listed through a prequalification process, and then won the tender in competition with five other general contractors.

Graham's scope of work includes construction of a new headworks building, vortex grit removal building, and associated systems. Work also includes new concrete influent channels, chambers and modifications to existing flow diversion systems; supply, installation, and commissioning of new odour collection and biofiltration treatment systems; and retrofits and upgrades to other mechanical, electrical, and controls systems throughout the existing plant.

This win was due to a highly collaborative effort by the Graham team, which included developing a detailed construction approach and bid strategies, resulting in a distinct advantage.

The project is set to commence construction this summer and is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
