Kelowna Community Health and Service Centre Awarded to Urban Solutions Consortium

The Urban Solutions consortium, made up of Graham, Gracorp, Bentall Kennedy (Canada) LP, Gibbs Gage Architects and Meiklejohn Architects Inc., has been awarded the contract to design, build, finance and lease the new Kelowna Community Health and Services Centre - a project valued at approximately CDN$40 million. Together this collaboration of partners brings experience, stability, a disciplined development process and an entrepreneurial mindset to the project.

To be located in the downtown core, the new facility (with about 800 staff) will provide centralized healthcare services to Kelowna residents and neighbouring communities. Gracorp serves as the development co-lead. Graham's scope of work includes early works relocation and upgrade of complex service utilities culminating in construction of a five-storey, 13,935 m2 (150,000 sq. ft.) steel building and 80 parking stalls. An additional 410 parking stalls will be provided by the City of Kelowna in an adjacent parking garage. The facility will offer a range of community, public health and administrative services including mental health, seniors' mental health, an eating disorders clinic, a community ambulatory treatment clinic, and workplace health and safety.

Construction will begin this fall and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
