Minister's Award of Excellence Awarded to Graham

Graham Group Ltd. was recently awarded the Minister's Award of Excellence in Transportation Innovation for the new de-icing technology installed on the Anthony Henday Drive Bridge in Edmonton, Alberta.

The new system - 34 automated nozzles embedded 12 metres apart spray de-icing agent onto the lanes of the bridge when the temperature drops below freezing - it is the first of its kind in Alberta and is designed to prevent ice from forming on the bridge to increase safety for motorists. The Anthony Henday Drive Bridge is a two-year pilot program to test the anti-icing technology.

This technology has been used for years in Europe and is currently utilized in Ontario, Quebec and several northern states in the U.S. It is a safe, biodegradable byproduct of potash and does not post any environmental health concerns.
